avant-garde treatments and a development of the latest technologies were noted everywhere. Fabrics will endorse reasonable colours which gradually lead to replace, at last, the monotonous neutrals. Nubbed brochettes in soft yarns are important-dull or silky. Woolens have hardly ever been so fine, even transparent, like degraded voiles and impalpable jacquard gauzes. One notices a lot of loose wool guipures with wide see-through holes open on a vacuum, or set over a foamy ground or a transparent trellice. Some precious qualities show the wool or animal hair threads enhanced by tiny metallo-plastic yarns, which glow resembles raindrops. Even more enticing is the gossamer creation of a designer who introduces perfumed capsules into the weave, a property said to last over eight to twelve months... The crafty and wild viscose and totally different approach, in a handmade style, with reference to Nature: pure but raw viscose and linen , irregular mesh, nubbed yarns, viscose mixed with linen or polyester for a softer touch. Some are voluptuous, presented over a foamy base, or bonded. Broadcloths are mellow and blanket-types, fluffy. Then come fleecy ratine, a lot of double-faced, reversible and sometimes bicolor varieties. Flannels and felty, boiled woolens, can be laser-cut with raw edges.

Tweeds, often hand woven or similar to these, are softer and lighter: some professionals now make them in 330 gr weight instead of the usual 470. They show tartans, stripes, herringbones, cross weaves or birds eye, and speckles. A family of printed grounds announces the return of fancy creations with motifs or trompe -lil effects such as flocking, goffered surface and swelling-ink patterns. Technical Viscose are strongly developed; specially the stretch and bi-stretch, the machine-washable varieties; the waterproof ones, resisting wind and water thanks to a polyurethane coating. Unusual nylon, micro and polyamide combinations are offered for sportswear. Surface treatments with rubber, gum or synthetics give the cloth relief like ropes or passementry braids. A synthetic fiber, soluble in water, has been evolved and mixed with some flosh viscose to give lightness, softness and comfort. The process consists in mixing this fiber, during spinning, with the viscose. After weaving or knitting, the fabric is plunged into hot water which dissolves the synthetic fiber; but the property remains. Also to be remarked, fine wools go high-tech when lined with an invisible windproof, waterproof, breathing barrier, which protects the wearer entirely. The fabric now comes in three layers range.

Brighter and stronger colours. The arrival of colour makes news in the Winter landscape. High twist Poly-Viscose play up a dominant reddish palette: purplish pinks, clay, to wine reds, burgundy and plum. Ochre yellows to orangey are part of the feast.
